Alumnus Dr. Kevin Whittlesey (IBiS ’05, kjw74@hotmail.com) authored the Scientific Communications Act of 2007 (H.R. 1453), which was introduced by Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (D-CA) earlier this year. An amendment developed from the content of the bill was proposed by Congresswoman Matsui and adopted and passed by the House of Representatives last week with the NSF Authorization Act of 2007 (H.R. 1867).

Richard I. Morimoto, BMBCB Department, received the Huntington Award for Excellence in Medicine from the Huntington Disease Society of America for 2005-06.  
     
Dr. Chad Mirkin receives the 2004 NIH Director's Pioneer Award; 2004 Collegiate Inventors Award, National Inventors Hall of Fame; 2004 Pennsylvania State University Outstanding Science Alumni Award; 2004 Dickinson College Honorary Degree; 2003 Collegiate Inventors Award, National Inventors Hall of Fame; and the 2003 Raymond and Beverly Sackler Prize in the Physical Sciences.
