Laboratory Adventures in the Biological Sciences (L.A.B.S.) is a fun, hands-on program at Northwestern University designed for grade-school children (grades 1 through 7) to challenge and excite interests in laboratory-based biology. The participants will work in small groups with advanced Northwestern undergraduate student-teachers to perform experiments that illustrate the excitement and wonder that science offers. The 2008 L.A.B.S. program will feature laboratory exercises on biotechnology, molecular biology, genetics and cell biology. Projects will include "take-home" experiments that can be done together with parents and siblings. L.A.B.S. will take place over four consecutive Saturdays in the spring: April 26, May 3, 10 and 17, 2008. L.A.B.S. is made possible by the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Institute.
