The annual IBiS retreat is held over two days in September at a retreat
center near beautiful Lake Geneva, WI. The retreat features a fun mix
of science and social activities and serves many purposes. For the incoming
students, it provides a wonderful introduction to the other students,
the faculty, and the exciting research opportunities in the IBiS program.
For the continuing students, the retreat fosters inter-lab and interdisciplinary
connections between students
and faculty who don't normally interact. The retreat
also provides the continuing graduate students an opportunity to present
and discuss their work with their peers. The retreat is an enjoyable
and productive experience for everyone.
The retreat is normally scheduled for the first Thursday and Friday
after Labor Day. However, in 2007 the retreat will be held on Wednesday
and Thursday, Sept. 5 & 6.
